China’s Storm… Katrina Part II?

China Storm Reaks Havoc

More on the “Chinese Katrina”….

Love this line…
“While the (corporate) generals dined in London, the poor bloody infantry were in the Guangzhou trenches.”

We’ll have to see how the post-snowfall mess resolves. In the US, Katrina marked a widespread, collective failure of faith in the ability of the US govt to improve their lives. Both those affected, and those who watched from a distance, shook their heads and muttered… “These guys can’t do anything right.” In a lot of ways, Katrina shattered the myth of “If we can land a man on the moon…”

But China? Will people just suck it up and get over it? Will they maintain their faith in the ability of the Chinese Communist Party to deliver the goods? After all, China has moved 200 million people off the farms and into industrial jobs. It is building roads and railways, buying new aircraft and building airports. Its companies are out there, stealing the march in the quest for resource security. China has a robust space program, complete with “Taikonauts” and the ability to shoot down satellites in orbit. And they have plans to go to the moon.

Meanwhile, why don’t US newspapers have such good articles like those Brit papers?
